The Siq – In the Footsteps of Indiana Jones
Nobody goes to Petra and see the magnificent Treasury without following the footsteps of [easyazon_link asin=”B000NQRE9Q” locale=”US” new_window=”yes” nofollow=”default” tag=”pridecostume-20″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”yes” popups=”yes”]Indiana Jones[/easyazon_link] on The Siq where he trudged on his horse in search of the Holy Grail. Nearing the end of the gorge, Indiana Jones and his entourage were awed at the splendour of The Treasury that loomed before them. The film may have only shown a small part of The Siq but in reality it’s 1.2 km. where a stroll is never dull but engrossing.

This is the gate to the Siq (The Canyon / The Gorge).
The Siq is a natural geological fault split apart by tectonic forces.
Its dark and narrow passage creates a thrill on your way to Petra’s most astonishing ruin, THE TREASURY.
Its winding course is very dramatic. A romantic walk here would be really memorable like no other.
Every left turn is exciting.
And every right turn is going into the mysterious path of the unknown.
The impressive sandstone walls that enclose The Siq is 300 – 600 feet!
Standing there and looking up, I felt so powerless!
My fab-ness is no match to its might! 🙂
In various times of the day, the hues play with the light.
There’s baby-pink, rose-red, yellow, light orange and other textures.
Some of its walls display unfinished carvings, depicting the life of times past.
Along these walls are conduits that channel water to avoid flood.
Weathering has shaped these rocks into an amazing, natural phenomenon.
Visitors share the grand passage with horse carriages. Expect to see and maybe, step on the cup-cake like horse dung. Don’t even mention the smell. 🙂 🙂 🙂
And before you know it…
…the shimmering facade of Petra’s Treasury hovers above you.
And you will be very emotional. 🙂
Next post will be Petra’s The Treasury….
Come back soon.

Whoaaa!!! This is an awesome place to be strolling. I need to include Jordan in my trips this year!
I was there long time ago and the pathway wasn’t concrete yet. There was even a flood a day before I arrived, so it was kind of muddy.
Astonishing.. Thanks ate for the report.. You are becoming a damn competitor journalist!!
Ate, you have to go there! Don’t skip it the next time you will be in Middle East.
