The Iron Men and Women of Venice Beach

Don’t get me started with Venice Beach. Ah, it’s one beach to go when you’re in Los Angeles. Though it’s a little more than an hour bus ride from downtown LA, you’ll be rewarded of something you won’t expect—but that’s another blog entry later. And one of those things you would see, if you’re lucky, is the Iron Men and Women of Venice Beach competition at a small stadium donated by Joe Weider, the father of body-building.

We didn’t really catch the competition. We were walking our way from Santa Monica Pier all the way to Venice Beach under the blistering sun and among the bike riders and shirtless surfers running and chasing waves. We stopped from time to time to admire God’s beautiful creatures. So, by the time we arrived at the stadium, it was already concluding but few winners stayed waiting for their cue to be interviewed by a TV station.

It was our very first time to see body-builders up close—and boy, those muscles are real hard and bulging! We can’t imagine the discipline they’ve gone through to reach perfection. It’s a damn hell of a body that could crush me in one blow. Or maybe, an elbow jerk from those women would have me declared dead! LOL…

Enjoy these Iron Men and Women from Venice Beach before summer is totally over.

Let me start with Papi……  🙂
