From Saigon (Vietnam), I flew to Bangkok then to Phuket, the southernmost part of Thailand to relax at the beach. I heard a lot about this beach as the “flesh mecca” of all sorts of debauchery, in contrast to the nearby tiny islands which are good for island hopping.
Patong Beach area was drastically affected by the tsunami in December, 2005 but three years later (I went there in 2008), the images of the devastation werent there anymore. Life continued and business as usual.
Backpacking for almost a month in three countries was tiring and strenuous. So, before I ended the trip, I wanted to be in paradise. The islands in the southermost part of Thailand seemed a perfect fit for a weary feet and body.
As soon as I arrived in my guesthouse, I was offered with a complimentary welcome drink which I needed most in a long, sunny day. After checking in, I grabbed my camera and headed to the beach.
And this was how nature welcomed me to this island.
