Do not miss a theatre performance of flamenco when visiting Sevilla. It is a must thing to do for every tourist, passerby, and sojourner in this southern city in Spain. You can catch a show in some restaurants and small theatres throughout the city. The bigger the theatre is, the more expensive the price is. I decided to go for a cheaper one, which is smaller and more intimate – at Auditorio Alvarez Quintero.
If you’re staying in a hostel, you might get a discount. Just ask the hostel receptionist. And if you’re a student, bring your ID to avail a discount.
There are four participants in this flamenco performance.

There are two dancers.

A guitarist.

And a cute vocalist. 😉

I have never seen a dance performance that is as intense as flamenco. Look at this dancer’s face!

It is extremely expressive.

The dancers’ movements are beautifully and gracefully calculated.

The tapping of the feet and the rhythmic arm movements are all in sync.

Their facial expressions show struggle, love, passion, sigh, grief, and happiness.

This Andalusian dance includes dancing, singing, playing guitar, hand clapping, finger snapping, and vocalizations.

With the proud bearing of their body and arms, the dance is mesmerizing.

We were brought into the deepest sense of their feelings and movements by just watching them.

Their chemistry as performers were incredibly great!

If you fancy dinner and this performance together in one sitting, you better pay more. There are theaters around the city that offer something like this. Usually, there are two shows a night. The show starts on time, so don’t be late. It’s an hour show, and there’s a half-time break.
Where to stay in Sevilla
I stayed at Oasis Backpackers Palace Hostel, one of the best hostels I’ve ever been to. It’s a fun hostel with a rooftop overlooking part of the city – and a jacuzzi! The rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable. The staff is extra nice, too. Read my review here.
