The Old Quebec: Within the Citadel

I had no idea that Old Quebec City is a city within a wall–just like Xian and Pingyao, two ancient cities in China. Thus, the city within is called “Old Quebec” where tourists and visitors would mostly find all the things they must see in one of Noth Americas oldest cities. And its also declared as UNESCOs Cultral Heritage. The Citadel is one of the ONLY remaining fortified city walls in the Americas, north of Mexico.

Within the Citadel are historic buildings, streets and a battlefield. Streets are narrow but its quaint and you cant help but marvel at the cobblestones you are walking on. The architecture is marvelous and very European and theyre painted in welcoming hues. The outdoor cafes are always filled with locals and tourists chatting like theres no foot traffic a spit away from them.

In summer, every park spaces are occupied with buskers entertaining people from all walks of life. In narrow alleyways you can find artistic gems with artists selling their art in a reasonable price. Artisans are there, too, showing off their unique crafts.

Old Quebec is a city within a wall.
