Poutine (Yeah, it can be pronounced as Putin. Hehehehehe…) is french fries drowned in special kind of sauce and cheese curd. And when in Montreal, a visit to La Banquise in Mont Royal area is ALWAYS worth a visit to savor its delicious poutine featured in many travel books. Dont be surprised with the queue–its normal. Even in freezing winter I was told. Most people would order take out and bring their sumptuous snack in the nearby park, La Fontaine, where gorgeous, shirtless Frenchies bask in the summer sun. If you are lucky to have a seat inside, then, its your day!
During my second visit in Montreal early this month, two friends brought me here and boy, I thought I wouldnt be able to finish the huge serving in front of me but, duh, I did. Well, almost actually. There was a tiny portion left in the plate which my friend gladly finished it for me. I had poutine before twice but theyre nothing to be compared with these ones below:
Los “3 Amigos” poutine is made up of sausage, bacon, hotdog, saucisse
La Matty is made up of bacon, pepper, onions and mushroom
Yes, they, too, have something for the vegetarians!
