Maing Thauk Village and its Stilt Houses at Lake Inle
Visiting Maing Thauk village and its stilt houses is one of the tourist attractions we did on our one-day tour at Lake Inle in the Northern part of Myanmar. The floating village is one of the tour stops we chose from the list. So, if you want to see these stilt houses, make sure to ask your boat operator to include this. Or better, ask for the list and tell him which places you want to see/visit.

We visited the floating village of Maing Thauk on our back to Nyaung Shwe – where we started. It was the last place we stopped by where we stayed for 45 minutes.

You have to know that Maing Thauk village is not all floating at all. Half of the village is inland while the other is on water.

There is a long stilt bridge that connects the floating village to the mainland. If you want to see the mainland, then you have to speak to your boat operator. Or you can just simply ask him to drop you off in the middle of the stilted bridge and wait for you at the end of it.

Where to stay at Lake Inle
Our Lake Inle tour started from the town called Nyaung Shwe. It’s a pretty interesting town with hotels, bars, restaurants, and rental apartments. You can book your accommodation via Booking, Expedia, HostelWorld, and TripAdvisor.
