Chemin de la Corniche Promenade in Luxembourg is Europe’s Most Beautiful Balcony. Perhaps, it’s the world’s longest balcony, too! I walked the entire promenade that snakes through the top of ancient, historical forts.

Chemin de la Corniche. The promenade runs on top of the old ramparts built by the French and the Spaniards. Take your time walking slowly and admire the views below the valley and across the river. The small community you see below is the district of Grund with interesting houses.

The Grund. I wanted to go down to the Grund after my walk at the promenade but I couldn’t find the elevator that goes down through the cliff. Other tourists and I were asking each other where the lift was but couldn’t find it. I’m not really sure what to see there but I think it would be interesting to just walk around the village. One tourist I talked to really wanted to go down because she was desperate to check out a Michelin star restaurant for dinner.

Where to Stay in Luxembourg

For one night, I stayed at Hotel Empire.  It’s a very nice boutique hotel across the Luxembourg Central Train Station. If you had an early train schedule to France or Belgium, this hotel is the best in town. There are dozens of cafes, shops and restaurants around the area. You can book via HostelWorld and Booking.com.
