Boldt Castle is a heart-shaped island in the US side of The Thousand Islands. Its not your regular castle where a King and Queen used to live. Theres no such thing like that. Behind and within that imposing royal structure is a love story of a rich man who built it to show his love to his beloved wife, Louise. That rich man is George Boldt, owner of the famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City.
Sounds like the story of Taj Mahal, eh?

The castle was erected in 1900. But, Louise died in 1904. George was heartbroken that he decided to put a halt to its construction.
This massive construction project comprises of six storeys with 120 rooms! For 73 years, the castle was left to the care of nature until the Thousand Islands Bridge Authority acquired the Heart Island in 1977. They were / are responsible for the renovation and maintenance of the castle.
